Tuesday 4.10

Today, we began our day with ou and ow! They make the same sound...but they aren't used the same way. We did word sorts to notice the difference, then we read together our story about a New Friend.  Tonight, you can talk about either a time when you had a new neighbor or you WERE the new neighbor! How did you learn about your new friend? What was it like to be new?

We were AMAZING in math today! We worked hard on +9 facts! These are the hardest in first grade!! We practiced adding 10, then backing up one.

Our Jesus time today was spent on the Resurrection. We read it in parts, with the disciples not believing it until they saw it! What a glorious day that must have been!

After lunch, we read another chapter of our "Marvin Redpost" book. That kid is sure funny!! He's dogsitting...who is he dogsitting for?

We worked through all our centers today! Our listening center was about penguins and Antarctica, which really helped us when it came to "pre-reading" our science for the week-- it's all about PENGUINS and ANTARCTICA!

During reading to a friend, we kept track of our "sparkle words"...they are words that just add a little extra UMPH to the writing!!

Finally, in our leveled readers, we looked for evidence that told us about the characters...whether it is something the character does, says, or feels.

No written homework tonight... just work on flashcards.
Tomorrow is chapel and library!
