Today, we began our day with a tour. It was a great way to see where everything is, and to practice our HUGS and BUBBLES in the hallway!
We talked today about Being a Bucket Filler. What do bucket fillers do? How can you be a bucket filler. All day long, we are filling or dipping in buckets. We are going to really look for ways we are filling each other's buckets in first grade.
We also spent a lot of time today talking about COTTON BALL WORDS and SANDPAPER WORDS. What's the difference? Have your firstie explain the difference.
After lunch, we talked about what mathematicians do! They use calendars, and numbers, and calculators, and graphs to tell us all about the world around us! We even started our math board today!
We worked together on a directed drawing of a school bus! This is a fun activity that teaches us that it really is OKAY to go with the flow!!
Finally, we talked about THE SIZE OF THE PROBLEM. We labeled our problems 1, 3, and 5. What is an example of a 1, or a 3 or a 5. We work hard in first grade to make sure that our reactions match the size of the problems!
No HW tonight! Also, no chapel tomorrow, because we had chapel on Monday. THANK YOU ALL so much for the flexibility and the patience you have shown as I am getting used to SPM's ways!! It's been SO GREAT being here!!
See you tomorrow!
