Ash Wednesday

Today in chapel, we learned that repenting is turning away from sin, and focusing on what Jesus already did for us. In the Old Testament, when people repented, they wore sack cloth and sat in ashes. Today, we have ashes on our foreheads as a reminder that we too are sinful and repentant. But the ashes form a cross, because Jesus took our sin to the cross, and because of that we can be filled with JOY and HOPE that we will one day PRAISE Him at the foot of the throne in heaven!

Just a reminder that Lenten worship begins today at 3:30 in the church and again at 7pm in the church and His Rock.

We worked on contractions today! As you read together tonight, see if you can find any!!
Here's a game if you'd like to play!

We also voted on our favorite book from the "Most Wanted" list!

The winner was.......
MISS NELSON IS MISSING with 18 votes!

After lunch, we worked on our doubles +1 wrap ups. These are great practice! Everyone has one to practice tonight (if you have time!) and return tomorrow!

We also read through the first part of our new science unit. We talked about the idea that God made it so animals could camoflauge themselves. Which do that? And why?

Finally, as part of our Lenten talks, we buried the "Alleluias" in a box...until Easter. We will celebrate then, shouting Alleluia!! For now, we will focus on the sacrifice that God sent, for our sinfulness. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Have a blessed night!
