Thursday Dec. 16
The highlight today was seeing our buddies! We met with them and played games, read books, and made an ornament together.
We started the day with the movie of the nativity. We have heard, read, and seen this story and we pray it settles into our hearts!
We then made reindeer food and wrote about our pet reindeer! What would you do with a reindeer for a pet?
After lunch we had a special secret reader with a special story about a red sleigh. We will bring home our OWN red sleigh ornaments tomorrow!
Have a blessed night! (Check backpacks!)

Wonderfully busy Wednesday!
We began our day with devotions and a story again about how a Christmas tree can point us to Jesus. How can a tree tell us about a king?
In the afternoon, we zipped through a math practice test...easy peasy! Then we worked our hearts out on a project for our parents.
Two secret readers, plus a viewing our OURSELVES in the Christmas program....sure made our rainy day pretty great.
You can watch our program too!

Grinch Day 12/14/21
We started with a beautiful story about a barn and what happened there. We have really enjoyed listening to so many Christmas Stories.
We listened to the Grinch story again, and wrote adjectives that described that grouchy guy at the beginning of the story, and again at the end. Can you name a story where the character changes during the book, just like the Grinch? Maybe you can make a text to text connection!
We had both art and music today, which we followed up with some grinchy math word problems!
After lunch, we had a secret reader! The story made us giggle! Then we wrote ways that WE would make the Grinch grin! We will read our class book together tomorrow!
No Homework!
Gingerbread day tomorrow!

Christmas Tree Day! 12/13/21
We learned how the Christmas tree does point us to Jesus today! What about the three corners of the tree? The lights? The apple ornaments? We can use the tree to share the Good News about Jesus to everyone we see over the Christmas season. We read together "The Legend of the Christmas Tree" and learned so much about why we decorate the evergreens!
We voted...real or fake? Then we did a compare/contrast between the two, and did a pros/cons list for a real tree! First graders had great thoughts!! We finally wrote our own opinion papers about what kind of tree is best! Ask your firstie what he/she chose to write about...real or artificial...and why?
We did our regular math lesson, because we are doing great on Missing Addends. Today everyone really held on and we got through many word problems together!
After lunch we had a secret reader and celebrated a birthday before we made our VERY OWN CHRISTMAS TREE SNACKS! It was so much fun!! Messy, sweet, and took some real perseverance but we did it!!
No homework tonight!
Tomorrow is GRINCH DAY!

Friday, Dec. 10- a busy, productive, peaceful Friday
We began our day with a great devotion about how so much of our problems are temporary...but you know what isn't? The promise that we have a home in heaven! We will spend eternity with Jesus! There is such HOPE and JOY in that!!
(PS...if you are looking for a great family gift this Christmas, new devotion books are always such a great gift!)
We learned about digraph -ay today....plus some new sight words!
